Family Slate is a family calendar and kitchen organiser made by bptech LLC (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information Family Slate collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It covers our website, the Family Slate service, and the Family Slate wall screen.

In short: we use your Google Calendar data only to show your family its own calendar and to add the events you create. We don’t sell data, we don’t show ads, and our screen has no camera or microphone.

We do not collect location from your device, contacts, photos, or anything from a camera or microphone.

How we use Google user data

When you connect Google Calendar, Family Slate asks for permission to see the list of your calendars, view events on your calendars, and add or delete events on calendars you own. We use this data only to:

show events from the calendars you select on your Family Slate board and phone app;
create or delete an event when you ask Family Slate to; and
keep your board up to date when events change.

We do not use Google user data for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to train artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models.

Family Slate’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

People at bptech LLC do not read your calendar data, except when you ask us to for support, when needed for security (for example, investigating abuse), or when the law requires it.

Sharing

We don’t sell or rent personal information. We share it only:

With service providers who run parts of Family Slate for us (for example, our hosting provider), under contracts that limit them to doing that work.
With services you choose to connect, and only what that feature needs. When you send a shopping list to Kroger, the products go to your Kroger cart. When you ask for a meal idea, your request and your pantry list are sent to Google’s Gemini service to write the suggestion. Calendar events are never sent to Gemini.
When the law requires it, or to protect people’s safety, or as part of a merger or sale of our business (you would be told first).

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is open. Calendar events are kept only as a short-lived copy so your board loads quickly, and are refreshed from Google. When you delete your account, we delete your information within 30 days, apart from records we must keep by law (for example, payment records).

Your choices

Choose calendars: change which calendars appear at any time.
Disconnect Google: from Family Slate’s settings, or from your Google account at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Family Slate then stops reading your calendar and deletes its copy.
Delete your account: from settings, or by emailing privacy@familyslate.app.
See or correct your data: email us and we’ll help.

Security

Information travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Sign-in keys for Google and Kroger are stored encrypted and are never shown to anyone, including you. Access to our systems is limited to the people who run the service.

Children

Family Slate accounts are for adults. Parents can add their children’s names to their Family Slate board; we don’t knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll tell you by email or in the app before the change takes effect.
